The breathing tube

Today Happy was doing better.  They reduced the amount of assistance from the machine helping him breathe to the minimal amount and all of Happy's vital signs (heart rate, ICP, blood pressure...) were very good.  So the doctors decided to take the breathing tube out.  We were very excited to be able to finally hear Happy talk.  However, after they took the breathing tube out, Happy had trouble breathing so they quickly had to put the tube back in.  Happy is OK and the doctors think that maybe they can try to remove the tube in another day or two.

The emergency room doctor who helped Happy on the mountain came by to visit today and Mr and Mrs Bhatt were able to meet him and thank him.  The support for the Bhatt family has been great.  Local Indian people from Portland are coming to visit and at one time we must have had 12 people in the waiting room.  We also received the first cards for Happy in our mail today - keep them coming!!

Please pray that Happy's pneumonia will clear up.  The doctor's say it is moderate.  Please pray that next time the doctors remove his breathing tube it will be successful.

    Yeeeaaahhh! I'm so glad to hear the pressure on his brain went down. It's so encouraging to see Happy's progress each day. We'll keep praying!

    Wishing you all the courage and praying to the very famous Ganesha of Pune Dagdusheth to get Happy, well really soon... our thought's are with you in this difficult time...Bravo to the Doctor at the ski slopes and to all the local volunteers and people and the hospital staff...
