Ups and Downs

Happy's pneumonia is clearing up.  A chest Xray revealed that his lungs look good.  One of the hospital staff person explained that patients usually experience ups and downs as they get well.  We all want them to get better each day, but sometimes they don't.  (see illustration below)  Today was one of those kind of days for Happy.  His heart rate and breathing rate were higher than the doctors wanted so they gave him some medicine to make him sleep.  (They sedated him.)  Happy is resting quietly and his pulse and breathing are better now and the nurse wants to just have the parents in the room to let him sleep.

Happy is aware that he is in the hospital but still cannot talk.  We think he is upset because he understands that things are not right but he cannot communicate.  It is hard for him.  Please pray that he will be able to talk soon as his brain heals.  Pray for peace and patience for Happy, his parents, and everyone involved.

I'm showing Rajan and Amisha your comments.  Your words of encouragement are very good.  Keep them coming!!

Dear Happy, Mr. and Mrs. Bhatt, the Molloy Family, and doctors/caregivers:
It is with great hope and concern that I pray for Happy's recovery each day. My heart broke open the day I heard of his accident. I know Happy to be one of the most kind-hearted, respectful, friendly, hard-working, and yes, happy students I've ever had in class, especially as an exchange student. It is his own positive and uplifting attitude that sustains my own hope for his full recovery each day. This event reminds me how fragile and precious our lives are, and how much attention we must give to the gift of each day of life. Thank you, Molloy Family and doctors, for your boundless energy and commitment to Happy. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs. Bhatt, for letting your son touch our lives here in Portland. I look forward to the day when Happy picks up that teddy bear, looks it in the eye with a smile on his face, and throws it completely across the room to the waiting arms of all the people who love and care about him as he stands up out of that bed and walks out of that hospital to carry on with his important life! :)
