No big changes today

We got LOTS of comments about the video. Everyone loves seeing Happy and asked for more. However, today's nurse doesn't like us taking pictures in Happy's room. Maybe tomorrow. Sorry.

Happy started physical therapy (PT) today. They started by trying to have him sit up in the bed and hold himself up. Happy will get PT 5 times per week.

Happy's vitals were good today. His fever was down and heart rate and breathing were good. If his inner cranial pressure is down for another two days, they may be able to take the drain out from his head. They want to take the drain out before they take him off the breathing machine.

The doctors explained 8 stages of recovery from a head injury. Happy is in stage 3 and 4. The doctors cannot predict how long it takes for a patient to progress to the next stage.
1) No response
2) Generalized response - patient opens eyes but do not appear to focus or follow, involuntary movement
3) Localized response - patient begins to focus on people or objects and follows simple commands.
4) Confused agitated - confused about where he is and easily over stimulated by too many visitors. Short term memory issues
5) Confused inappropriate, non-agitated - Similar to (4) but less agitated
6) Confused appropriate - more independent - but need assistance
7) Automatic appropriate - Memory is improving and able to solve problems
8) Purposeful appropriate - relatively normal
