Happy is doing better today. He is alert and follows the doctors command, "Look at your mom" and "Look at your dad". The doctors are trying to reduce the amount of assist from the ventilator so that hopefully soon he can breathe completely on his own and not cause too much pressure in his cranium. Happy does have a fever of 101F/38C as he is diagnosed with pneumonia which is a common risk factor of being intubated (on a breathing machine). In spite of the pneumonia, Happy is looking better and stronger day by day. Continue to pray that he can have the breathing tube removed so that he can communicate better. That would make everyone Happy :-)

Please don't call the ICU nurse's station for status
We got a request from the OHSU hospital to reduce the number of calls into his nurse. It is impacting the care that they can provide Happy. Only immediate family members (Rajan and Amisha), host parents, and AFS people should be calling. I know everyone wants to know how Happy is doing, but please refer to this blog for status or call someone else, besides the nurse.

ReplyDeleteElizabeth B. and I went to visit Happy's parents tonight and took them some home-cooked Indian food! It was so good to be with them. Will go again tomorrow to take them back their cell phone -- hopefully with more minutes on it. We're praying for miracles.
